Water for Growth

Industry and community development in the Great Southern requires long-term security of water supplies. Components of the Water for Growth transformational project will help to secure future water sources for human consumption, industry and agriculture.

Water projects under way in the region include groundwater investigations, and expansion and improvement of the Albany borefields. Other opportunities identified in the Great Southern Regional Investment Blueprint include the development of a new potable water supply for towns in the Lower Great Southern, and infrastructure upgrades and extensions in various locations in the region.

Independent towns have particular needs for water security, and the region’s overall needs will be served by better water harvesting, reuse and recycling.

Other Transformational Project areas: Growing Value, Access to Energy, Avenues to Opportunity, Connected Great Southern, Destination of Natural Choice, Strong Communities.
