GSDC was honoured to host the Hon. Roger Cook MLA, Premier of Western Australia, at the 2026 Great Southern Budget Briefing.

Held at the Albany Entertainment Centre, the Premier was joined by the Hon. Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Regional Development, and Hon. Reece Whitby MLA, Minister for Great Southern. They delivered a comprehensive overview of the 2026-27 Western Australian State Budget and its implications for the region, including the recent announcement of the Seven Cities Vision.

Following the briefing, Samantha Rowe MLC hosted a Q&A session with the Premier and Ministers, providing an opportunity to address audience questions and further explore the investments, priorities and opportunities shaping our region’s future.

With more than 100 community leaders, local businesses and regional stakeholders in attendance, the briefing offered a valuable opportunity to hear directly from government, ask questions and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of the Great Southern.

Events such as this ensure the region’s voice is heard by decision makers and support informed decision-making across the Great Southern.

GSDC delivered the event in partnership with the Albany Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Denmark Chamber of Commerce and Katanning Regional Business Association.
