Craft Beer and Spirits Showcase Breaks New Ground
Great Southern businesses featured at the inaugural WA Craft Beer and Spirits Innovation Trade Showcase in Perth earlier this month, connecting local, interstate, and international buyers with Western Australian producers.
Among the nearly 40 producers in attendance, were award-winning spirits manufacturer Great Southern Distilling Co. and Denmark-based craft beer producers Boston Brewing.
Delegates from Singapore, China, and Thailand, along with local and interstate buyers, explored WA’s renowned craft alcohol industry. Singapore leads in WA’s alcoholic beverage exports, accounting for 41% of beer exports, while China and Thailand are emerging markets with growing demand for craft beer and spirits due to their tourism and fine dining sectors.
Great Southern Development Commission (GSDC) Chief Executive Officer Natasha Monks said the showcase provided an opportunity for producers to talk directly with buyers.
“In the Great Southern, our distinct climate and landscape are renowned for producing quality premium food and beverage products ,” she said.
“This mission highlighted our region’s extraordinary craft beers and spirits, created from that same fertile land, and gave them the recognition they deserve.”
The showcase, attended by more than 40 buyers, was a part of a wider trade mission featuring tours and tastings across Perth, Swan Valley and the South West.
The mission was developed by Austrade’s WA TradeStart network in collaboration with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, South West Development Commission, GSDC, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, and beer and spirits industry groups.
As part of the Great Southern Tourism and Trade Partnership, this showcase has the potential to boost the already impressive export sales growth achieved directly through support of the Partnership for Great Southern producers.
