Noongar Elders and Emerging Leaders Build Networks
A two-day conference in Kinjarling/Albany in November helped to build connections between emerging leaders in Noongar communities from across WA’s south-western corner.

We supported the Great Southern Aboriginal Leadership Network Conference, which brought Noongar elders together with younger community members to develop skills and strengthen links.
Speakers at the event included Goreng elder Jim Morrison, the Executive Director of Stolen Generations advocacy and support group Yokai. Professor Colleen Hayward led a workshop session on responses to the upcoming acknowledgement of 200 years of settlement in Albany. A session was devoted to the implications of the South West Native Title Settlement.
The conference also featured the inaugural Aboriginal Leadership Awards Night, which honoured the work of Aboriginal leaders, organisations and employees.
