Expansion Socio-Economic Analysis
GSDC partnered with Tourism WA to conduct a socio-economic impact assessment to evaluate the benefits of extending the Albany Airport runway. This analysis aimed to highlight the potential regional advantages of upgrading the airport’s infrastructure, including enhanced transport pathways and increased flight services. By exploring the future social and economic benefits, the study sought to demonstrate the value of these investments to local interests.
Potential positive impacts could include improved access to services in Perth, increased tourism, and expanded FIFO employment opportunities directly from the Great Southern region. This analysis will inform the development of the airport to meet future demand and support regional growth and liveability.
