WA’s Regional Development Collaboration
Staff from all 9 of Western Australia’s regional development commissions (RDCs) gathered alongside the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) in Perth for the third annual Regional Development Collaboration Workshop.
The annual event brings together regional development staff from the RDCs and DPIRD to collaborate, share knowledge, and workshop how to address common challenges faced by regional communities.
Under the WA Regional Development Framework, all 9 commissions and DPIRD work collaboratively to develop sustainable, vibrant regional communities, supported by strong and prosperous economies.
This year’s workshop centred on the themes of ‘digital transformation,’ ‘Aboriginal Economic Development,’ and ‘energy transition,’ with study tours to key projects in these areas kicking off the conference.
The program featured engaging speakers from the Aboriginal economic development, digital economy, and energy transition spaces, with additional sessions on leadership in regional development, and discussions on regional development priorities and future directions.

The annual Regional Development Collaboration Workshop serves as an essential platform for sharing information and strengthening networks among regional development commissions across the state.
The workshop was attended by the GSDC, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Gascoyne Development Commission, Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission, Kimberley Development Commission, Mid West Development Commission, Peel Development Commission, Pilbara Development Commission, South West Development Commission, Wheatbelt Development Commission.
