Regional BBQ brings home all the flavours of WA to international agtech industry
The GSDC represented the Great Southern at the WA Regional BBQ event closing out the Agrifuture EvokeAG conference in Perth.

Western Australia’s extraordinary Indigenous culture and exceptional local food and drink, sourced from each of the State’s nine regions, were showcased to more than 350 local, national and international guests as part of a Regional BBQ closing event for international agtech conference, AgriFutures evokeAG 2024.

Hosted by the WA State Government through the Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development at the WA Museum Boorla Bardip, the event acknowledged the important work that evokeAG attendees were doing to develop new and innovative food production solutions to feed local and global communities.
Each of Western Australia’s nine regional development commissions, Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Midwest, Esperance Goldfields, Wheatbelt, Peel, South West, Great Southern as well as Wines of WA, were also on show with guests enjoying a range of sustainably sourced produce from around the state including Kimberley barramundi, Great Southern lamb and Abrolhos Island lobster.
Special guests included highly respected Noongar Elder, Irene Stainton, who welcomed guests to Boorla Bardip, ahead of Premier Roger Cook’s official address. Indigenous dance group Kwarbah Djookian (Beautiful Sisters) also performed works from multi-award-winning Noongar producer, artist, filmmaker and teacher Karla Hart.
The event was a valuable opportunity for domestic and international conference attendees to increase their familiarity with the nine regions of Western Australia, and the unique food, wine and other beverages produced throughout the state.
